Rural and Urban Municipality Engagement is required to discuss potential project-specific details and potential areas of common interest with the project. To address areas of common interest with the host rural municipality, the Rural Municipality of Longlaketon, the Southey Project Working Group (SPWG) has been established. Areas of common interest include camp location, road closures, and road development, upgrading and maintenance. These elected representatives will be responsible for representing the perspectives of their ratepayers.
For areas of common interest that extend beyond the host rural municipality the Inter-Municipal Advisory Committee (IMAC) has been established. Areas of common interest include Yancoal’s hiring and procurement management, traffic management and emergency preparedness response planning. These elected representatives will be responsible for representing the perspectives of their ratepayers and residents.
